Spring into the Cotswolds
There’s no better time to visit the Cotswolds than springtime, so make the most of the areas of outstanding beauty bursting into life over the next few months….
Here at our luxury hotel in the Cotswolds, we are continually discovering new and exciting things to do in our local area. If you are planning on paying us a visit this Spring, here are our recommendations for having the perfect Cotswolds getaway:
Explore the Cotswolds with the Hare Trail
The Cotswolds Hare Trail is the perfect opportunity to hop outdoors and enjoy some of the stunning Cotswolds scenery and fresh spring air. As part of the Cirencester March Hare Festival, there will be an exciting trail of beautifully (and locally) decorated hares weaving their way through the Cotswolds. Whether by foot, by bike or by road; this quirky Cotswolds celebration provides the ideal chance for you to get out and about and enjoy all that the Cotswolds has to offer.
Let out your inner culture vulture at Stratford-upon-Avon Literary Festival
More of the bookish type? Then the Stratford-upon-Avon Literary Festival is definitely for you. With appearances from familiar faces such as Gardener’s World’s Alys Fowler, Andrew Marr, Mary Berry, and many more, there’s sure to be something to pique your interest. Not only will there be a plethora of fascinating talks, but there will also be a whole host of interactive workshops where you can hone anything from your calligraphy skills, to your prowess in historical fiction writing, and even how to make a beautiful papercut birthday card! The Stratford-upon-Avon Literary Festival is a truly diverse event, and definitely worth the trip from Upper Slaughter. This year’s festival takes place from 23rd-30th April, so not only will you be able to get your teeth into the literary festivities, you will also be able to revel in the beauty of the banks of the River Avon springing into life!
Take a trip to beautiful Bibury
Bibury is a must visit location for anyone staying at our Cotswolds hotel for a number of reasons, but least of all because it is just a hop and a skip away from Lords of the Manor’s home of Upper Slaughter. Another reason to head down to this sleepy Cotswolds village is that it has been said of many visitors, including 19th century artist William Morris, as “the most beautiful village in England”. Among the gorgeous ashy stone cottages in the village, there is one sight, in particular, to seek out during your visit. The first thing that you definitely don’t want to miss is Arlington Row, which is a picturesque row of weavers’ cottages built in 1380. The row of cottages are renowned for their charm and have become one of the most photographed landmarks in the Cotswolds. The cottages are so popular in fact, that they have made it as far as big screen, featuring in both Bridget Jones’s Diary and Stardust! Spring is the perfect time for a trip to Bibury as all of the beautiful blooms will be bursting open and brightening up the village.
If all of this sounds like the ideal way to spend a Spring weekend, then join us at our Cotswolds luxury hotel for the most relaxing stay you could wish for. Enjoy Michelin starred dining, gorgeous grounds, and the fresh air of the Cotswolds here at Lords of the Manor.
