Warm Up Your Winter at Lords of the Manor

Here at Lords of the Manor, we have got plenty of things to keep you feeling cosy this Christmas!

At Lords of the Manor things are well and truly underway for the perfect Christmas in the Cotswolds. The fires are lit, the cakes are in the oven, the woolly socks are on and the wine is a’mulling. To help you make the most of the festive season at our hotel in the Cotswolds, we have put together a little guide to spending a wonderfully wintery afternoon at Lords of the Manor…

A Walk Around the Grounds & Gardens

Lords of the Manor’s 8 acres of beautiful grounds have been carefully designed under the guidance of Julie Toll, a seven-times Chelsea Gold Medal Winner and truly are a sight to behold. It is an afternoon well spent to stroll through our beautifully manicured lawns, down through meadow all the way to the chocolate-box worthy River Eye. Beyond, a bridge connects to a lesser cultivated and more secluded area of the grounds, where you will find the old ice skating pond which today, has become more of a lake than a pond! Returning back up towards the hotel you can wander up the garden path past the magnificent and rare bog garden which hides the 19th century ice house. You can also explore the Walled Garden to the rear of the hotel, filled with colourful flowers, a walled border and espalier fruit trees.

Our luscious gardens have been carefully designed to bring maximum enjoyment all year round, and a winter walk through the grounds will allow you to see the ornamental grasses in all of their winter glory as the highlight the garden with their silver or gold frosts. And, if you are lucky enough to visit our Cotswolds hotel when it snows, then you will see the gardens come to life in a completely different and wonderful way.

Explore Upper Slaughter

If your legs can carry you further than the 8 acres of Lords of the Manor’s grounds, then perhaps a wander out into the delightful village of Upper Slaughter is your cup of tea. The village is one mile away from its counterpart, Lower Slaughter and resides on a gentle grassy slope above the stream that connects the two villages. All year round, the beautiful Cotswolds stone of the buildings makes for a truly picturesque stroll, but adorned with a crisp frost or a sprinkling of snow, the village is really a wondrous site and not to be missed!

A Festive Fireside Treat

After all of that fresh air, it’ll be time to warm yourself up in Lords of the Manor’s cosy lounge or bar. Hunker down by the fire and enjoy a steaming hot cup of mulled wine. Or, if you’re feeling peckish, our Festive Afternoon Tea should do the trick! Enjoy a delicious array of festive homemade bakes alongside scrumptious sandwiches and a nice hot cup of tea or coffee. What better way to end the day than with a cup of something toasty next to the warmth of our log fires?

You couldn’t ask for a more idyllic festive afternoon. If you would like a slice of the cosy Cotswolds fun, then you can book your stay direct here. For more information, check out our Festive page, or give us a call on 01451 820243.
