Colour Scheme: Gold, Sparkly and Midnight Blue

With a New Year’s wedding you really want to buy into a sense of opulence and grandeur. Think The Great Gatsby: rich jewel tones; lots of gold and sparkles; decadent velvets and satins; and plenty of pizzazz!

Dress Code: Black Tie

Accessorise to the max for your New Year’s wedding. Sticking to that Fitzgerald inspiration; we want sequins, pearls, beads, maybe even feathers- go mad! You want that glamorous roaring twenties allure, so get your guests to go all out with a black tie dress code. Ladies in beaded cocktail dresses and gents in well shined shoes. The bride herself should go for gold detailing and plenty of beaded embellishment (check out Alice Temperley’s amazing creations for inspiration).

Food & Drink: Bubbles!

Never mind about the food, a New Year’s wedding clearly calls for a glass or two of bubbly! To make it that extra bit special, why not have your own signature champagne cocktail just for the reception?

For a deliciously spicy punch:

Try the classic combination of rhubarb and ginger.

For a botanical twist:

Try strawberry and elderflower. The floral notes of the elderflower really complement champagne.

For those with less of a sweet tooth:

Basil and raspberry make an unusual but delicious blend.

For a tart and refreshing punch:

Try a mix of citrus with an earthy kick of thyme.

The Cake: Art Deco

Clean lines and geometric shapes in black gold and white are the order of the day for your Gatsby themed New year’s wedding. Check out these lovely layers for inspiration!
