Extraordinary Wines from One of the Best Restaurants in the Cotswolds
For some guests, wine is as important as food and, indeed, wine at Lords of the Manor is taken very seriously.
The hotel is guided by a ‘go for the best’ approach, regardless of country of origin. The Lords’ cellar is therefore stocked with everything from French greats to high quality wines from the funkier countries. Nevertheless, the backbone of the wine list is in Bordeaux and the Rhone; Piedmonte and Tuscany.
A Thousand Bin Cellar
Wines range from £25 to £1,900 (a Château Latour), with prices sensibly geared towards the lower end of that scale. The Lords status as an independently-owned hotel allows it to be nimble in buying wine from smaller, high quality producers.
1000 bins is exceptional for a one star Michelin property, but the aim has been to ensure that all budgets and tastes area catered for – rather than simply build a library of expensive wine. For example, special attention is paid to half bottles, as it often happens that two diners may prefer to have different wines through the course of dinner. We also source different vintages from the same producer in order to ensure a range of prices across a particular wine.
