Luxury Cotswold Hotels
Luxury Cotswold hotels are hardly scarce, since this area of Gloucestershire has long been noted as one of the favored getaways for those who like privacy, elegance and beautiful surroundings. In fact, this gloriously picturesque area of southern England was declared an Area of Outstanding Beauty in 1966, and is the largest area so designated in all of England and Wales. Luxury hotels here hold themselves to a high standard in accommodations, since the Cotswolds are so popular with discerning visitors.
It stands to reason that those who seek luxury accommodations will settle for nothing less than exquisite food as well, and many of the Cotswold hotels are noted for their fine dining. Lords of the Manor, under the supervision of Executive Chef Matt Weedon, offers a tasting menu in addition to the a la carte menu. On Friday and Saturday evenings, the luxury hotel holds a wine tasting so that guests may try wines from the hotel's cellar of more than 200 varieties before choosing one or more for their dinner.
A light menu is offered for lunch and terrace dining (with a stunning view of the Cotswolds). There is also a special menu for Sunday lunch. Afternoon tea is also available, ranging from a simple snack of shortbread and cream tea to the luxury of high tea with champagne.
Lords of the Manor is so well known for its clean, modern version of French cuisine, using mostly local Cotswold ingredients, that it also hosts the Friends of the Lords Dining Club. Members receive priority invitations to all the hotel's dining events, such as "Meet the Chef" dinners and special wine tastings.
