2.00pm Meet at Rodmarton Manor, near Cirencester for a private guided visit. No house sums up the principals of the Arts and Crafts Movement, better than this wonderful house, still lived in and cherished by the Biddulph family. Everywhere are the marks of the Guild of Handicraft with furniture by Ernest Gimson and Norman Jewson, set in the architecture of Ernest Barnsley. A unique experience.
3.30pm Depart Rodmarton Manor
4.00pm Arrive at Lords of the Manor in time for afternoon tea.
7.00pm Meet for a drink with your fellow guests and a brief introductory talk by your host, Nicholas Merchant.
7.45pm Dinner in our Michelin starred restaurant.
Monday 26th October 2009.

9.30am Talk by Your Host Nicholas Merchant. Linley, the Continuing Tradition of English Cabinet-making.
10.30-11.00 Morning Coffee .
11.00am Talk The Perils and Pleasures of the 18th century Grand Tour with James Bolton. The Grand Tour was the 18th century equivalent of our Gap Year, (although it frequently lasted a good deal longer). The perils were many, as were the pleasures, James will enlighten you, and amuse and perhaps even appal you!
12noon Rest of the day free.

10.00 Depart Lords of the Manor to visit Stanway House
10.30 Guided tour of Stanway House, the home of Lord Wemyss, and the quintessential Cotswold Manor House, illustrated and lauded in every book on the subject. The house and contents are a bewildering amalgam of styles from its exuberant gatehouse and dutch gables, to its extraordinary Chippendale sofas and Pre-Raphaelite portraits. Just perfect.
12.00 Leave house for lunch at the Plough Inn, Ford (included)
1.30 Leave Plough Inn
2.00 Arrive at Sudeley Castle with a chance to wander in the gardens, visit the Church of St Mary, or go to the exhibition on the life of Emma Dent, the 19th century chatelaine. Thereafter at 3.00pm we will have a “Connoisseur Tour” of the house, once the home of Catherine Parr, the last (and surviving) wife of Henry VIII.

Guests depart after breakfast in their own transport.
